This of course isn't good English, but a little Bavarian joke.
Maybe you wonder why Bess is a little "ashamed" by her new-won love. I was told Bavaria is to Germany like Texas to America: They think they are the best (well, they are, indeed) and everybody else doesn't like them because they are arrogant (which is true) and because they highest per capita income (which is true as well and the reason why they are rightfully arrogant ;-) ). But fortunately Bess is not easily deceived by common prejudices (well, she is, but she knows when to overcome them).

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the story so far and will come back sometime!
